There was no way we could meet everyone in attendance, and we’re sure we missed a few cars and events, but we wanted to roam the lots and snap a lot of pictures to share with our brothers and sisters who couldn’t attend. It sucks that the little point and shoot Nikon we used to get these pictures added the date to all of them, but our resident photog is currently on vacation in Colorado so we had to improvise.

MOD was a great time as usual. BIG TIME THANK YOU to everyone at Mitsubishi who gave up their Saturday (and likely many more days) to make such a special day for all of us. There are two more MOD events in the US this year – at the factory in Normal, Illinois (September 18), and at the Mitsubishi Motors North America Eastern Zone HQ in Swedesboro, NJ (October 16). Your fellow Mitsubishi owners want to see your Mitsu there. Plan on attending.

I work full-time at a local auto shop.

What Mitsubishi do you drive?
A 1991 Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo (same as 3000GT VR-4) and a 1996 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD (same as Eclipse GSX).

How long have you had your Mitsubishi(s)?
Stealth – 1.5 years
Talon – 3 years

What got you into Mitsubishi?
I grew up loving cars. Around my pre-teen years, I began to favor imports. The Hondas appealed to me at first. Luckily, I was surrounded by Mitsubishis right before I got my license and fell in love with them. Those Mitsubishi owners saved me from a lifetime of let downs.

Got a favorite story to tell about your Mitsubishi?
Mine would be the story of how I found my Stealth. It all began in the fall of 2006. I was looking for my first car. It had to be turbo and AWD. Naturally, I looked at Mitsubishis. I found a panda Talon at a dealership in my area. I went to the dealer and test drove the car. I fell in love. When I got back, I noticed a white Stealth in the back corner. It was a bone-stock ‘92 TT in pearl white, with the porno red leather interior. I lusted over it. I then realized it was twice as much as I had budgeted for. I went ahead and bought the Talon.

I never quite forgot about that Stealth. Don’t get me wrong, I still loved my Talon, but it was just something about the twin-turbo V6, luxurious interior and advanced technologies.

Fast forward a year and a half. I had been saving up for quite some time again and began my search for a new car. That search didn’t last long. I found a nearly-identical pearl white Stealth in my area. It had similar miles (around 80k), but lacked the porno red leather interior. It did, however, have the ultra-rare cloth seats. The car just got a rebuild and was absolutely immaculate. I kept in contact with the seller while I tried to sell my Talon. Lucky for me, the seller was the coolest man alive. He took the Stealth off the market for three months without even accepting a deposit! By that time, my Talon did not sell. However, I had a little help and was able to buy it straight up. This moment was one of the greatest moments of my life. I was able to purchase my dream car at the ripe age of 18, all the while being able to keep my first car as a daily driver.

What are your goals for the car and how close are you to achieving them?
My current goal is to break 400AWHP in the Stealth. I have the fuel system ready to install and I will pick up my WRX turbos this winter.

My ultimate goal is still undecided. I do know one thing for a fact: I’m going to keep the Stealth with me to the grave.

What was your favorite modification? Why?
A good manual boost controller. I spent nearly a year fiddling with “Home Depot specials” and the eBay junk people gave me. I was never able to hold steady boost. A spur of the moment decision landed me with a Hallman MBC. It was an entirely different car after that.

What’s next for your Mitsubishi? Why?
Stealth – Hibernation. It is 19 years old now and doesn’t have a spot of rust. I want to keep it that way.
Talon – Continue to abuse and neglect it until it blows up (the same philosophy I’ve had since I bought the Stealth).

Who has helped you the most along the way?
I would have to say everyone on the forums. They provide me with technical support, feedback and motivation. I like being able to do everything myself, so my friends are often neglected when it comes time to working on my cars.

Who do you look up to in the Mitsubishi community?
The MOD Squad. These are the factory workers at the Normal, IL facility who spend hours upon hours of their free-time to host a massive (and free) event for all of us Mitsubishi owners. That is truly taking pride in the product they build!

Is there a particular shop you’d like to recommend?
Jason from PMP (pricematchedparts.com) has always treated me right and has all the right answers. His prices can not be touched, either!

Do you spend time on any Mitsubishi sites? Which ones?
I spend way too much time on Mitsu-Media and GatewayDSM. It’s difficult to stay away for long periods of time, as I have met some of my best friends through these forums. I also check in with STL3S (found at US3S.org) and find most information I need at 3Si.
