Mitsubishi Owner Day 2010 – Cypress, California
Since 2005, Mitsubishi USA has been hosting a special event for enthusiasts like us. Every summer, hundreds – if not thousands – of die hard Mitsubishi owners from across the United States make the trip to southern California to Mitusbishi’s North American headquarters in Cypress for a sort of family reunion. Gearbox Magazine was there and we’ve got a LOT of pictures to share with you. Check it out!
Bill Zissopoulos’ 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback Ralliart
Although this new line up from Mitsubishi is very unfamiliar, Bill has taken the plunge and has yet to look back. Bill wanted to get the Evo X but decided against it so that not only him, but his wife can enjoy this black beauty too. Quickly after getting the car, he had has eyes set on a set of wheels. The wheels were off an EVO so the wide fenders were able to tuck the wheels but being a Ralliart, it lacked wide fenders. Bill was not going to give up on it so off he went to roll fenders. Check out how well he was able to get these to sit flush. In this short period of time a decent amount of work has been done. Read along to find out the entire story of Bill and his sexy SportBack.
Ronnie Gibson – Mitsubishi Evolution I
What’s your name? (Your screen name?)
My real name is Ronnie Gibson. (EVORON)
Where do you live?
I live in Washington Tyne and Wear, England.
What do you do for a living?
I work in a factory making seats for Nissan.
What Mitsubishi do you drive?
I drive a Mitsubishi Evo 1.
How long have you had your Evo?
I’ve had the Evo for about a year now.
What got you into Mitsubishis?
The thing that got me into Mitsubishi is the aggressive look and awesome power delivery you get from them.
Got a favorite story to tell about your Evo?
The day I drove to Bradford to pick up the car was one of the best times I can remember. It was a real buzz getting behind the wheel of it for the first time and the feel of the turbo spooling up and the car taking off felt phenomenal. A time I wont be forgetting any time soon, the car still puts a smile on my face every time I get in it now.
What are your goals for the Evo and how close are you to achieving them?
My goal this year is to reach the 350 bhp mark. I dont think I’m too far away from that now. A decent boost controller, bigger injectors and a remap would finish the job nicely.
What was your favorite modification and why?
My favourite modification is the rollcage, as you dont see many of them fitted to early Evos. Gives it a bit of a rallycar feel to it inside too.
What’s next for your Evo?
Next mod is an electronic boost controller as its only running on standard boost 0.7 bar and these can be turned up to 1.2 bar safely.
Who has helped you out the most along the way?
The person who has been the biggest help is my friend David Todd who’s a mechanic and a really good one at that too. He’s pulled me out of a few pickles.
Who do you look up to in the Mitsubishi community?
There’s too many guys to mention on the forums. All have been a great help to me. You can get so much help and good advice on the evo123.net site. I think its the best around at the minute for the early Evos. People like soldave and EvoMayhem really know their stuff.
Is there a particular shop you’d like to recommend?
I don’t usually use shops for parts as theres so many parts available on the forums.
How often do you get together with other Mitsubishi owners in person?
I’m a member of JapNorthEast, a club which owners get together and there are some cracking Evos there. We meet once a month.
Do you spend time on any Mitsubishi sites? If so, which ones?
I spend most of my time on evo123.net or www.japnortheast.co.uk.
Are you on Twitter? Facebook? Have your own website?
I’m on Facebook. Don’t use any of the other ones really.

Since Ronnie went to the trouble of cleaning the SNOW off his Evo for us, here’s some more pictures!

Thanks to Ronnie and EVO123.net for getting Mitsubishi Gearbox Magazine’s Evo Generations rolling right! Next month, we’ve got EVO123.net member Christopher’s Evo II! Thanks for stopping by!
Amanda Minks 2003 Lancer
Love at first sight. That’s how we would categorize Amanda’s relationship with her 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ RalliArt. What happens in a Lancer stays in the Lancer.
