Help Wanted

24 November 2010 in Gearbox Comments off

WE ARE HIRING. There is no pay (yet), but if you’re passionate about connecting gearheads around the world and would like to make a name for yourself in the global automotive community, we’d like to talk to you.

A lot of time and energy goes into Gearbox Magazine. Sometimes there isn’t enough of either. We’re not about to rest on our laurels anytime soon, though. Partly because we really believe in what we’re doing here, and partly because we don’t really know what laurels are, let alone why anyone would want to rest on them.

We would like to add TWO people to the Gearbox team in the near future. These people would be integral parts of the team – sourcing/producing interviews, establishing relationships with subject matter experts in multiple areas, basic site maintenance, and being a part of anything we might get involved with in the future.

Here’s a typical week spent at Gearbox Magazine.
Browse your favorite forums, check out the build/project threads, click on news items, whatever you might normally do. The only difference is, when something is really well done or exciting, you dig deeper. You try to get in contact with the movers and shakers. Track them down, tell them about Gearbox, ask for the interview. Then it’s a matter of easy email back-and-forth before the story and pictures are put together on the site.

Congratulations. You just made a new friend somewhere in the world, you’ve helped him or her get their story out, and maybe even inspired someone else with a new idea. Welcome to the game, player.

Here’s what we’re looking for more than anything else.
Dependability. We need people who are truly passionate about being gearheads; people who know their lives are better because they have been involved in the automotive community. We’re looking for people who believe in what we’re trying to do enough that they’re willing to do it for free and stick with it long term. When this venture does begin to bring in some money, we want dedicated partners to share it with.

We’re willing to train the right people.
You don’t need the fastest, most powerful car on the planet. You don’t need to be an English major (second language is a plus, though). You don’t need Photoshop or programming skills. All you need is a sincere desire to be a part of something bigger than yourself and to recognize that your success is directly tied to the success of the community you serve.

Mitsubishi, rally, drag, diesel, EV, and more.
This site is our flagship site. Mitsubishi Gearbox was the first channel. You are our biggest audience and, as this site was set up to benefit Mitsubishi owners, I’m posting this request here to give you all the first chance at it. There is no channel of Gearbox that a Mitsubishi owner couldn’t handle. If it’s not your bag, no worries, you’re still family and we still love ya. But, as one Mitsubishi owner to another, I know you know people, and you probably know someone who would be all over this. Maybe pass this info along?

None of us are making any money at this right now. We’re not selling ads and we don’t intend to. When we come up with some stickers or shirts to sell, any money we make will be going right back into bigger projects which will directly benefit the community. In the process, we’re getting to know most excellent people.

Are you ready to modify the car community? Let’s talk.
